I don't buy this stuff, I make it from the seaweed I find on the shore. I take it home wash it, dry it until it's crispy, crumble it up and bottle it until ready for use. I usually treat my plants to 1 tsp per houseplant - and 1 tbsp for garden plants. It really stimulates the plant's growth and development - my plants are further along and healthier than my neighbors- everyone who visits my garden noticed.

Thanks Gary! I've recently come across the theory that adding fresh onion to the ginger when you pre-sprout it will escalate the process considerably. Hoping that between both methods my Ontario garden will give me a crop in late fall. 🙋🏼 PS: i've just noticed another comment espousing the onion theory, so i guess we'll find out if it works.

Found my perfect mix for seedlings this year. 10 ml of southern ag kelp green + 5 ml of foxfarm micro. Per gallon. I use rainwater from my barrels. Hint: no calcium in rainwater... there's fishemulsion in the kelp green as well so they get all the macro nutrients but will look pale. Added the micro and some calmag and thy greened right up. So if your wanting to stay organic...just thought I would share. Flowers get the blue stuff right away.

People who kelp use for the trace minerals. Ive used a concentrate in which makes 65 gal., for about the same price as the above vid. What I found was that it kept my over wintered cuttings very green. Use it for the trace minerals and you will be OK. My plans are to make some brewed tea mix with seabird guano and kelp.

Hi Gary! I have followed all your steps for Mixing container soil however I ran out of my mix and was in a crunch and went a bought what I thought was potting mix. In a hurry I bought garden soil and before I knew it I was two containers in when I realized the bag read garden soil not potting soil. I planted my cucumbers plants and tomatoes in the soil. They are transplants should I dig them up and if so what should I do next? I grew them fro seed following all your steps and they are beautiful. I will cry if now I kill them due to rushing.

Good advice! I'd add that the planting timing should be based on average temps, average lows and highs for where viewers live rather than by the calendar month. Where I live in Las Vegas, for example, I have to check the temps on weather sites for the Mojave Desert as well as double checking myself with thermometers around the yard and temperature probes in the soil. I find that I can plant earlier in the spring and later in the fall than most websites, tv shows and books recommend. Yes, it is surprising how many things I plant in the fall wind up surviving the winter and still being alive or growing back from root crowns, tubers etc. in the spring. A lot of things I've tried planting by seed in the very late fall early winter sprout nicely in the spring. I do that sometimes, especially with wildflowers and native plants because that's how things happen in nature: the seeds drop in the fall and sprout in the spring.

Thank you for this video. I live in zone 5b and have been trying to figure out how to grow Ginger and Tumeric. What would be the best way to store/save ginger during the winter and then plant for the following spring? I do not want to buy new ginger every year. The winters can be cold, and the basement or the garage is the only space we have to store any plants during the winter months. I am still learning on how to best grow ginger and tumeric in my area. Thank you for your videos. I appreicate any addtional information that you can share!
